¿ Interpret and understand terminology pertinent to power generation, electricity systems and grid capacity planning.
¿ Understand renewable energy resource data and be able to apply resource data suitably as an input for power generation simulation.
¿ Understand and apply basic power generation performance models suitable for systems analysis, from resource, to conversion, to delivery, for renewable and conventional technologies.
¿ Be able to select one or more technologies and configurations based on resource and demand needs in a mini or off grid scenario.
¿ Understand and apply principles of cost for power plants and electricity systems.
¿ Apply concepts of demand, resource, generation and cost in a basic spatiotemporal model of a grid-connected electricity system.
¿ To be introduced and exposed to application examples relevant to energy systems analysis. This could include an introduction to the commercial electricity systems analysis platform used in the South African IRP.
