Objectives:

The aim of the MI Intermediate course is to develop and assess competency and improve proficiency in MI as a counselling skill for facilitating health behaviour change.

It aims to train practitioners in health behaviour change counselling (e.g. nurses, doctors, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists) using motivational interviewing.

Specific objectives of the course are to:

Apply the principles and philosophy of MI in a health behaviour change context
Achieve intermediate proficiency in the guiding style and key MI skills
Use an assessment tool (MITI) to self-evaluate competency in MI

Entry Requirement: Professional 3-year Bachelor’s degree/Advanced Diploma or Equivalent Qualification
