Leeskringe/Book clubs

Objectives:

The main objectives of this workshop is to:
- Discuss a selection of the most exciting novels and poetry collections that have appeared in Afrikaans in recent years
- Pay attention to aspects such as the author's oeuvre, genre, structural features, authorial techniques and thematic elements.
- Show how certain theoretical angles (such as gender studies, postcolonialism, psychoanalysis and ecocriticism) can be used to unlock literary texts and enrich one's understanding of them.
- Give course participants the opportunity to analyse texts and sections of text and provide input in the discussion.
