The objective of the course is to familiarize the delegates with pavement evaluation techniques, including distress mechanisms and their causes, as well as maintenance and rehabilitation strategies for existing roads. The focus will be on technical engineering concepts and processes.
Non-destructive (deflections) and destructive (test-pits) methods for pavement investigation will be covered. The interpretation of the assessment data, as well as overlay and rehabilitation design models will be explained, especially for Southern Africa conditions.
This course provides insights into best practice, including worked examples and case studies. Measurement and back-analysis of deflections together with in-situ material tests and DCP data will form the primary focus of the investigation and design techniques.
