Objectives:

The course aims to establish a beginners profeciency in motivational Interviewing. It is the first of a two part course in Motivational Interviewing. The follow up intermediate course includes competency assessment of skills aquired and applied to the health behaviour change context.
The aim of the course is to train practitioners in health behaviour change counselling (e.g. nurses, doctors, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists) using motivational interviewing.
Specific objectives of the course are to:

Describe the principles and philosophy of MI
Achieve beginning proficiency in the guiding style and key MI Skills.
