Objectives:

This course focuses on risk management in the African context, with an emphasis on mitigating urban risks. It seeks to demonstrate the inherent linkages between disasters and development, stressing the importance of disaster risk reduction, introducing a variety of approaches as well as specific tools that can be used effectively to reduce risk.
