MBA Essentials

Estimated cost: More than R20 000
Field Of Study: Executive Development
Department Name: USB Executive Development

The MBA Essentials will prepare students with essential business skills relevant to the current business climate, to advance their career or business and prepare them for further studies. This 16-week course will be pitched at NQF 8, as well as a primer or screener for the Business School's own MBA. In light of new MBA admission requirements, a course pitched at this level is increasingly relevant and could potentially be recognised as prior learning for South African students' MBA and PGDip applications. Students will master the key concepts of the three key MBA courses, which are Economics, Managerial Accounting and Managerial Statistics. Economics will focus on the fundamentals of macro-and microeconomics, such as supply and demand, as well as the formulation of economic policies. In the Managerial Accounting section, students will get familiar with the accounting equation and the principal financial statements necessary to make informed business decisions. In Managerial Statistics, students learn how to gather and interpret data as well as how to apply the data to their business operations.
