Certificate course in Aquaculture Production Management

Objectives:

Aquaculture development in Southern Africa is hampered by a lack of skilled manpower. Local opportunities for training in aquaculture (i.e. certificate, diploma, degree, etc.) are limited. Since 2001 the University of Stellenbosch has presented an Aquaculture Education Programme in a Distance based format.

The course content will be divided into the following sections:

- Applied Biology of Aquaculture Species
- Nutrition and Feeding of Aquaculture Species
- Water Ecology: Monitoring and Management
- Production Systems: Design and Management
- Processing and Product Development
- Fish disease and Fish Health Management
