During this course participants will:
1.) Analyse their existing understandings of popular definitions within a democratic framework (specifically South African and African context**);
2.) understand organs of a democracy, and evaluate those democratic structures;
3.) remember the basic principles of a constitution and create a working definition for `engaged citizenship¿.
*This course seeks to facilitate the attendees progression from understanding the basic principles of democracy and citizenship to synthesising those basic understandings with case studies and lived experiences.
**While providing a global historical context for the practice of democracy, this course will rely on the South African context as a case study, whilst bearing in mind that the South African history exists within a large African history with democracy.
