The goals of MMED are for participants to be able to effectively:
* Explain dynamic principles and their role in the epidemiology of infectious diseases
* Create a model world to address a research question
* Describe and compare diverse modeling frameworks
* Understand how to implement simple models
* Explain and apply the conceptual framework for fitting models to data, and implement technical methods for simple model-fitting problems
* Understand fundamental principles in statistics including bias, inference and variance
* Understand key principles of study design and data collection
* Communicate about research with those outside their discipline
* Organize international, interdisciplinary collaborations to produce research products (oral presentation and written report) on a given timeline
