Background:
The BPsych Equivalent programme (code 3877), presented by the Department of Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University, leads to statutory registration as a Psychometrist (Independent Practice) after successful completion of the professional board examination. The minimum admission criteria for the BPsych Equivalent programme at Stellenbosch University include an Honours degree in Psychology, with 65% in both Applied Assessment and Psychometrics. The Basic Applied Psychometrics (BAP) short course serves as a bridging course for students who do not meet the entry requirements for the BPsych Equivalent programme in terms of the Psychometrics module.
Main objectives:
*To construct and evaluate psychometric tests.
*To develop, apply and evaluate decision-making rules for selection and developmental interventions.
The objective of the course is therefore to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills in psychometrics required for admission to the BPsych Equivalent programme. A final course mark of 65% is required to be eligible for the programme, with selection dependent on the student meeting all other admission requirements and the availability of spaces at the time of application.
