Estimated cost: R1001 – R5000
Field Of Study: Health Profession Education

Objectives:

Learning is a personal process (incidental or purposeful) which takes place in a social context and is influenced by the world in which it takes place. This module aims to provide some insight into the most prominent learning theories as a basis for understanding how learning takes place. Readings and discussion on the neurobiology of learning will be followed by an examination of approaches, cognitive styles, learning styles and instructional preference of individual learners. The impact of academic, psychological and social factors on student learning will also be explored.

We will also be spending time having a closer look at the interaction between teaching and learning. During the contact week, you will have the time to engage with, and discuss, the different facilitation strategies. These discussions will be continued during the online phase of the module and supported by collaborative activities linked to the module assessment opportunities.
