Know the basics and master the detail: obstetric ultrasound "at your fingertips"

Objectives:

The overall aim of the course is to enable delegates to perform a basic obstetric scan according to requirements defined by SASUOG.
The aim of the theoretical course is to educate delegates about the required content of the basic obstetric scan as well as the minimum requirements for skills and record keeping.
The hands-on session in the afternoon will assist the delegates to achieve the goals of the basic obstetric ultrasound examination by demonstrating technical manoeuvres to acquire the correct image plains and improve image quality and by providing the delegates with an opportunity to practice correct manipulation of the transducers and optimising facilities of the ultrasound equipment.
Delegates will then continue to master these skills in their own work environment and undergo a formal assessment with constructive and targeted feedback to correct inadequacies. The objective of the final formal assessment is to establish that they have mastered the required skills
