Junior Command and Staff Military Studies

Objectives:

This course is designed primarily to educate, train, and develop senior officers in the rank of a major (middle level officers) of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and other related security sector government officials. This course will enable students to serve as commanders and staff offers during tactical level operations (predominantly conventional and peace support) across the spectrum of armed conflict with the necessary academic background embedded into the JCSC as an integrated approach. The SA Army JCSC, integrated with this short course will produce officers that are fully qualified as a functional (mustering) expert in their corps/mustering and able to command and lead a combat group based on functional expertise in their corps/mustering and in integrated tactical operations (Landward-, Air-, Maritime- and Military Health Defence Capability) with an academic component.
