Objectives:

This 3-day course focuses on the underlying principles of postharvest physiology and technology applicable for the postharvest handling of a wide range of South African crops, including deciduous fruit, citrus, vegetables, ornamentals and fresh cut flowers. The aim of the course is for attendees to understand the basic principles that govern postharvest fresh produce quality in order for them to implement this knowledge in practice to maintain product quality and to prevent losses in the postharvest handling chain. Hierdie 3-dag kursus fokus op die onderliggende beginsels van na-oes fisiologie en tegnologie wat van toepassing is vir die na-oes hantering van 'n wye reeks Suid-Afrikaanse gewasse, insluitend sagtevrugte, sitrus, groente, sierplante en vars snyblomme. Die doel van die kursus is dat deelnemers die basiese beginsels wat na-oes vars produkte kwaliteit beheer, verstaan ¿¿sodat hulle hierdie kennis in die praktyk kan implementeer om produkkwaliteit te handhaaf en om verliese in die na-oes hanteringsketting te voorkom.
