Expose participants to the complexities of insect rearing by focusing on the following topics: Designing good rearing facilities; Genetics of starter and developed colonies; Importance of the environment on the physiology of reared insects; Developing diets; Good standard operational procedures for effective insect rearing; Disease detection and identification of causal pathogens; Worker and insect health in insectaries.
