Introduction to Earth Observation

Objectives:

This introductory course is aimed at beginners who need instruction in basic remote
sensing functions such as data acquisition, pre-processing and classification. Participants will also be exposed to more advanced applications of remote sensing such as object-based image analysis (OBIA), hyperspectral remote sensing and Radar. Upon completion, participants will undertake an examination in order to demonstrate a clear understanding the basic principles of earth observation, the electromagnetic spectrum, digital data, image resolution, satellite systems, pre-processing techniques and classification and will have the ability to apply these concepts in ENVI.
